⚠ EXPIRATION WARNING

Section 179D and Section 45L both expire for projects beginning construction after June 30, 2026. Act now to secure these deductions and credits before the deadline.

Section 179D — Commercial Buildings Deduction

$2.50 – $5.00 /sq ft

For owners and designers of energy-efficient commercial buildings. Covers HVAC, lighting, and building envelope improvements. Prevailing wage + apprenticeship requirements unlock the maximum $5.00/sq ft deduction. Based on ASHRAE 90.1 standards. Qualified retrofit plans target 25%+ energy use intensity reduction.

Section 45L — New Homes Credit

$2,500 – $5,000 /unit

For ENERGY STAR or DOE Efficient New Home certification. Manufactured homes qualify at $2,500 (ENERGY STAR MH). Multifamily properties: $500/unit ($2,500 with prevailing wage). Expires for homes acquired after June 30, 2026.

30% Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC)

Solar PV systems receive 30% of total system cost as a tax credit. Available through 2032. Commercial clean vehicles: 15-30% credit ($7,500-$40,000 cap). Monitor legislative changes.

DOE Better Buildings Initiative

Resources for energy-saving building technologies. Design and decision support guides. Energy benchmarking with Portfolio Manager.
